White Star County Park, Sandusky, Ohio
White Star Park in Sandusky County Ohio, is an 800 acre park
located near
Gibsonburg, Ohio. On the park property, White Star Quarry is a 15 acre man made lake with an average depth of 40’
with the center of the quarry approaching 50 Feet. There are two “holes,” one
near the wall close to the main diving entrance and the other at the bottom of a
stone crusher that are 60’ and 80’ respectively. The cost of diving is $15 per
day per diver. You need to fill out a diving form (a pink envelope) and drop
it in a special payment slot with your money for each
day that you dive. You
must have exact change or you can write a check. There are two pavilions
that have the forms and the information about registering posted near the diving
sites. On most weekends, Divers Incorporated - White Star operates a scuba
concession where you can pay by check or credit card if you need to.
For any non-divers that may be joining you, the White Star Swim Beach hours when
it is open,
weather permitting:
Mondays - Friday: Noon - 8pm
Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays: Noon - 8pm
2009 Season for the beach are:
May 23-25 (Memorial Day Weekend)
May 30 - May 31
June 6 - August 23
August 29-30
September 5 - 7 (Labor Day Weekend)
Daily rates in 2009 are: Ages 2
years and under free, ages 3- 12 are $2.50, and ages 13 and up are $3.50per
day. With Season Passes Available. The beach house includes changing rooms and a concession stand. Bottles,
cans and inflatable devices are prohibited in the beach area. Swim area depth is
from 0’ – 15’. The area is roped off with protection markers. White Star Campground is across from the park’s main entrance and has 24
“primitive” site (no hookup for water or electric) at $15 per site per night.

dump station near the entrance.
You are allowed 2 vehicles and two tents per site with a maximum of 4 adults.
The fee is payable by an envelope system similar to the diving side. The
Campground is open April 1 – December 31 and each site includes a table and a
fire ring. In 2007 additional sites with electric and water were made
available.
At both the dive site and the campground, the facilities are primitive and kept
clean. There are no showers and sinks in the quarry area but the campground has
well water and sinks in the facilities for washing.
