What is the charge for admission for Non- Divers to White Star Quarry?

FREE!  The taxpayers of Sandusky County insure that there is no charge for non divers visiting the quarry.  There is only a charge for diving, snorkeling and swimming.

Are Pets allowed at White Star?

Yes! Dogs are allowed at the park but must be kept on a leash at all times.  Pets are not allowed in the scuba entrances or swim areas and should not be allowed to swim.  Please be a responsible pet owner and clean up after your pet. Please leave your Crocodiles and Alligators at home.

Is swimming allowed at White Star Quarry?

Yes! There is a designated swimming area with lifeguards and swim platforms and a sandy beach.   Swimming outside of the swim area is prohibited.  There is a fee for swimming.

Is Enriched Air (Nitrox) available at the Quarry?

Yes!  During Scuba concession hours, there is EAN36 available to certified Enriched Air Divers and students with instructors.

Is Rental Scuba Equipment available?

Yes! A full line of rental equipment including scuba equipment, underwater cameras, and dive lights are all available.

How do I arrange camping at the Park?

White Star Campground is across the street from the Park's main entrance.   Primitive sites  and Electric hook up sites are available on a "first-come-first-served" basis. Self-registration is done on the campground property.

Is there anything for non-divers to do?

Most Definitely.  Aside from the swim area,  a fantastic playground and park area is located on the park property and there are numerous hiking trails available on the 800 acres of property at the park.   Fishing is allowed if you hold an Ohio fishing license.

How do I register for diving?

At the two main scuba entry areas there are pavilions where you can register to diving.   Diving Registration is $20 per person per day. Each diver must fill out the front and back of the envelope, sign the liability release and enclose $20 in cash or a check made out to Divers Incorporated.  The envelope is then dropped into the canister that is there.  The pavilions have directions and details available there.

Can I Night Dive?

Night diving is permitted on Saturday Nights between Memorial Day and the last Saturday in September. You must register with the scuba concession if you intend to night dive and you must check in and check out of the water.

Is there a Dive Shop on the site?

Yes.   The scuba concession has a small dive shop on the site that is operated on the weekends.   This shop offers air fills and nitrox fills, equipment rentals and an assortment of those "often-forgotten-and-sometimes-broken" items.  There is also an assortment of T-shirts and hats available.

Is there a charge for parking?

Since this is a county park there is ample parking that is always free.  It is however, illegal to park on the grass anywhere in the park area other than the campground.

How Clear is the water?

The underwater visibility of the quarry changes as the summer progresses. In the winter and early spring the water is colder so the visibility is spectacular, rivaling the Carribean in clarity. As the water warms up the visibility diminishes somewhat as more nutrients are introduced into the water. The visibility rarely gets lower than 20ft and is often times in the 30ft - 40ft range.
